In the fall of 1997 Development services Department, Technical Service Division of Public Works staff created the ADDRESS coverage from the hard copy address maps maintained by the Municipal Addresser at the Development Services Department of Public Works. The Point Address coverages for Anchorage and Eagle River were created in the fall of 1997 as a means to better integrate geocode applications throughout the Municipality. In 1998, the address coverages went through various Q/C procedures using site addresses verified by Fire Department personnel and by Community Planning and Development Landuse study interns. In February 1999 the address coverages for Anchorage and Eagle River were combined into one coverage - Address. In the 1st quarter 2001 the Address point coverage was checked against the Roadnet coverage to make sure both coverages were in sync. Address house numbers and street names were checked against the roadnet geo-code range making sure the house numbers all fell within the geo-code ranges defined in Roadnet. Corrections were made to both Address or Roadnet. There are a few addressing oddities relating to house numbers that do not match with the Roadnet geo-code ranges. The street names for both Address and Roadnet should match and be in sync. In Spring 2006 address coverage was converted to GDBO, and is now soley edited in the geodatabase environment. The address data is continually researched and edited to make and keep as accurate as possible.
