Abstract:

Park_Parcels is a feature data layer in the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) SDE that shows the location and information about parks within the MOA.

Purpose:

To provide a data layer for various mapping and analytical needs for use with other MOA GIS data sets. Data is stored and maintained as a feature data layer in SDE.

Supplemental_Information:

This datalayer is still being worked on. Parks that have the designation of 'Dedicated' or 'Leased' within the STATUS attribute are the only two catagories of parks that have been verify with source documentation. Currently, MOA - Park and Recreation Department is reviewing the data and is researching the parks with 'UNKNOWN' status. 28 April 2008 - Updated 'The Cuddy Family Mid-Town Park' per plat 2007-174. This park is not currently dedicated and status was changed to 'unknown' until it is officially dedicated

Park_Parcels were created from source documents provided by MOA - Parks and Recreation Department (these are for the dedicated, leased, designated, and pending parks). Additional parks were added from recorded subdivision plats such as dedicated open spaces, park reeserves and greenbelts. The MOA - Parks and Recreation Department is reseaching the parks identified with an 'UNKNOWN' status as these parks were always identified in the past as parks but documentation is missing to verify dedicated status.
